In the Fall of 1985 entrepreneur Frank Maggio detected a pattern to the scratch-off game cards in the Beatrice "Monday Night Winning Line-up" contest, and completing 4,018 winning entries. Breaking the contest was the easy part; collecting on it proved to be difficult. Beatrice cancelled the contest two weeks prior to the officially announced contest ending (printed on the back of the cards), prompting Maggio to file a lawsuit to secure his winnings.
