R-MA Band performed this exceptional patriotic medley during Spring Family Weekend on April 23, 2010. It includes traditional folk songs from the 18th and 19th century, including "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again," a popular song of the American Civil War that expressed people's longing for the return of their friends and relatives who were fighting in the war; "The Girl I Left Behind Me," a song that was popular with the US Army during the War of 1812 and later with Confederate troops during the Civil War; "Shenandoah," a traditional American folk song dating to the early 19th century; and "American Patrol," a popular march written by F.W. Meacham in 1885 . This is John Edmondsons arrangement of "An American Tribute."
