An animation of a theoretical 24 cylinder engine; 2 v12s connected with a common crankshaft, arranged in an X or K configuration. While interesting to look at, I'm not sure if an engine like this is very likely to be made :)
From the front, counting the cylinder banks clockwise (1,2,3,4), pistons fire in bank 1, 3, 2, 4. There is a power stroke every 30 degrees. As for the firing order, well, I'm no engineer but I did my best attempt at spreading the power strokes of each cylinder evenly through the engine. And I have no idea how balanced this engine would be either lol
