As it has come to our unfortunate attention, two of the Norwegian political parties, Arbeiderpartiet and Høyre agreed on the Data Retention Directive (DRD). Someone claiming to be insiders of anonymous published a warning in Dagbladet.no at 14th of Dec in 2010, and the warning still remains. The websites of both of the political parties have lately been offline or unstable due to the DDoS (Disturbed Denial of Service) attacks. Anonymous considers DRD to be an extreme violation of privacy and an invasion in our everyday peaceful life. It's a huge possibility that the government would like to expand the DRD as far as France is expanding it; they came to the conclusion that the DRD didn't work out as they planned to, and they're currently discussing expansion of the directive by the surveillance and logging of conversations.

We are aware of the DDoS-attacks' negative reactions. DDoS has been portrayed as illegal, destructive and backfiring for our cause. DDoS is not destructive and it's legality is in a greyzone, it's simply another way to peacefully protest, like blocking a building. DDoS also raises attention. Our recent DDoS attacks is a democratic way to protest, and as citizens of a(n ironicly) democracy we have our right to do so.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.
Benjamin Franklin

Anonymous has no leadership, there's no organization and there is no such thing as orders. Anonymous is basically an anarchy. Ideas are constantly created, but unless the the majority of anons support the idea, it simply dissapears due to the lack of interest. Good ideas are created, and thus Anonymous organizes over different webforums and chat channels. The dissappearing ideas are simply ignored and nothing happens, some of these do receive much attention, but dies out swiftly. It is important to maintain your own political views and opinions. Many people have conflicting views with other "members" within anonymous, but we are not centered around one point of view. Due to our lack of organization, anonymous/we have been able to accomplish many things. Anonymous is simply anonymous people at the same place at the same time.

This "war" on terrorism has gone out of control, and is now violating our privacy. EU documents and investigations actually prove that DRD lowered the crime-solving rate and statistics, probably caused by the lacking usage of traditional investigation-methods and the fact that the DRD databases don't contain the necessary information.

DRD opens up for black markets, corruption, abuse by private corporations and further more abuse of DRD by future governments. The ISPs will store the data, there will be no centralized, government owned databases for DRD. All ISPs will be required to set up privately owned databases for DRD. This will add cost to the ISPs, which in return probably will make the customer pay the extra cost.

DRD brutally abuses our privacy and violates the Norwegian law. We protest against the DRD because of its clear violation of the norwegian constitution, the human rights declaration and our privacy. We do not tolerate that security actions against terrorism should infringe a whole nation's privacy, national laws and peoples freedom.

We are Anonymous,
We are legion,
We do not forgive,
We have not given up,
We have just started.
We do not forget
Expect us.
