The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, due to new rules and regulations, oversees one of the most stringent underground injection control programs in the United States. In 1983 Ohio was granted regulatory authority over its' injection wells because the state's regulations met or exceeded all U.S. EPA standards. ODNR continuously reviews these regulations in order to provide citizens with maximum protections from any health or environmental risks associated with oil field wastes.
