ENGLAND FORWARD EXCITED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR SELECTION AFTER SUSPENSION

Wayne Rooney says he is raring to go at Euro 2012 and could be let off the leash for England against Ukraine on Tuesday - and believes it's time for the Three Lions to deliver.

Rooney missed England's first two matches of Euro 2012 through suspension but is in line to return for their last Group D fixture in Donetsk.

Roy Hodgson's side have impressed in Rooney's absence and by his own admission, the Manchester United striker has been a frustrated figure on the sidelines.

"Watching the game is more difficult than playing. You have no control over the game," said Rooney.

"Obviously I'm delighted to be back part of the team and the squad and to be involved again. The lads have done great to put us in the position we are in now and hopefully I'll get a chance to play and try and shine and help us get through the group."

He continued: "Since I've joined up with the squad I've taken part in every training session. I'm feeling good, I'm just feeling ready and excited to get out onto the pitch.''

And as England look for a place in the last eight - a draw would do against the co-hosts - Rooney says it's time they proved what they can do at a major tournament.

Rooney added: "England are a massive football nation. But over the past 30 or 40 years we haven't fulfilled our potential.

"With the history of football in our country, we need to be winning trophies.

"We have a big belief in ourselves. We believe we are certainly good enough to go through the group stages."
