Lisa Gade reviews the Huawei MateBook X Pro 14” metal chassis premium Ultrabook with a striking 3000 x 2000 touch screen, Intel 8th gen CPUs, a fast M.2 NVMe SSD and a nice price. The 2.93 lb. / 1.33 kg MateBook X Pro is Huawei’s 2018 premium laptop that sells for a compelling $1,199 for the Core i5-8250U with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD and $1,499 with a Core i7-8550U, NVIDIA MX150 dedicated graphics, 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD (EU prices are unfortunately higher). The notebook has a 3:2 display like Microsoft Surface products, a backlit keyboard, Precision trackpad, a webcam that pops up from under a keyboard key in the Fn top row and a Thunderbolt 3 port, USB-C port and USB-A port. It competes with the Dell XPS 13, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and HP Spectre.

For me it's a blowout. This one is way much better than the xps or the MacBook. Bought mine on Tuesday.

Hows the trackpad and fan noise? If I get this it would be for video watching and slight gaming (league, Dota, Heroes of the storm, CS:GO) Keep in mind that I own a 2016 Razer Blade Stealth, will I find this laptop better or should I stick with my current laptop

I picked one of these up from Amazon with a 300 dollar Amazon gift card. I had no problems! It is a fantastic laptop. Thank you for doing this excellent review! As always, I'm glad I found your channel!

Finally, an appropriately priced ultrabook. This is what we should have been paying all along. I'd like to thank Huawei for correcting the market.

3:2 aspect ratio should be the norm. This laptop looks great.

I was thinking about buying the i7 model yesterday and Microsoft Canada is already out of stock today. As soon as they're back, I will definitely order one.

I wish I could get that expansive heatsink and MX150 in the next rMBP 13. Looks like that's going to end up just having the Iris Plus 655, which is decent but a step back from any MX150 config, let alone with cooling like this. Apples cooling is usually not a gram more than it needs to be for the chips rated limits.
