Pinellas County was in danger of losing over 50 miles of beach to erosion. The Army Corps of Engineers' solution: dredge offshore sand, killing marine life at the dredge site, then depositing sand on the beaches, smothering marine life there also. Average life of a beach "restored" by dredging: under 5 years. Holmberg offers a permanent and sustainable solution for a much lower price to the taxpayers. Savings can finance teacher salaries, law enforcement, senior health services and other government programs which actually benefit those who pay the taxes which fund beach restoration.
