Bessie has been adopted FINALLY!!♥♥
UPDATED BESSIE VIDEO! Bessie is settled into her foster home. Here's what her foster Dad had to say about her first few days: "We decided it would be best for Bessie that she slept in her crate ([our dog] Jamie sleeps with us) ... She was an angel in her crate we didn't hear a peep. She's going to make someone's home very happy. We've primed the clicker with her and started some basic training, she's so content to just lie on the couch (unless she thinks that there's food available) that it might be hard to motivate us to do training. She has had some issues sharing toys with Jamie, but a quick call of one of their names (generally whomever seems to be out of line) seems to snap them out of it. For the most part they play for a bit then go lie down and rest. It's really been a great experience thus far." END FOSTER UPDATE Update: Bessie has quickly endeared herself to our volunteers. She is a doll! She loves to sit and patiently wait for the next command. Very smart girl! She does need work on walking with a leash and is very strong. But she is a quick learner. End updateNew Arrival! We'll post more information about this sweetie as we get to know her. But Bessie came from a local city pound and looks as if she's had a rough start in life. This Basset/Pitbull mix is about 2 years old and looks to have Lab in her as well. She is just a love and will need some TLC from a new family. If you are interested in adopting Bessie, please fill out an on-line application at www.sadiemaefoundation.org. Bessie is spayed and fully vaccinated. $300 adoption donation, vet reference check and home visit required. Note: We ordinarily limit adoptions to homes within CT or no more than an hour or so drive from our kennel in order to be able to conduct a home visit and provide follow-up assistance when necessary. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis.
