The President of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA) is hosting dialogues between UN Member States and candidates for the United Nations Secretary-General on 7 June 2016. The current list of official candidates can be found on the PGA's website, along with more information on the process: http://www.un.org/pga/70/sg. The Office of the PGA had requested the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) to facilitate a process with civil society to provide questions that can be asked to candidates during these dialogues. More than 1000 questions from Civil Society were received. UN-NGLS facilitated a Civil Society Committee to review the submitted questions and short-list 30 questions to present to the Office of the PGA.
The President of the General Assembly selected Ilya Bañares' question as one of those asked on 7 June 2016.
