Using various methods to improve the function of the friction hitch.

The twist.

Note: I do not claim to be an expert and this is not instruction, I climb mostly with mechanical hitches like the Unicender or with the Hitch Hiker but when I do use a friction hitch, I want it to work right.
Pretty sure the word "hockle" or "kink" is going to come up. I have not found this to have that much impact, especially when the eyes are turned counter to each other. I think this mostly occurs, depending on the type of rope, with the direction of the wraps and the braids. Also, depending on the direction, these twists my eventually work their way out requiring a re-set. I don't know but I suspect if using more than a turn and a half, you are exceeding what may be considered, reasonable.

Climb safe.
