Arthur Johnson and Sons of Nottingham is one of the country's largest and most progressive auctioneers. We serve Nottinghamshire, the East Midlands and beyond.
We have one of the largest auction room complexes in Britain, with our six salesrooms offering a constantly changing selection of contemporary and antique furniture, collectables, commercial equipment and general items.
The thrill of the sale, the chance find of a special item have attracted thousands of people to auction rooms for hundreds of years.
But it hasn't been an easy journey for this traditional industry. Arthur Johnson and Sons Ltd operate possibly the largest weekly furniture auction in the country.
The managers of this Nottingham-based company, itself an institution dating back to the 1880s, have had to adapt to prosper.
They explain how drawing inspiration from cattle markets, modern furniture salesrooms and the internet, have ensured the hammer will not fall on this enterprising and visionary business.

Live Webcast Auction
Arthur Johnson and Sons are the only auctioneers in the UK to hold weekly webcast sales of collectables.
This means that your items can be brought to us on Monday and we will have them illustrated, catalogued and uploaded onto the internet by Wednesday evening.
Hundreds of internet buyers from around the world register with us each Saturday to listen to the sale and bid. We send approximately 30% - 40% of the lots in each sale to online buyers.
So what is the charge for putting your items in one of our webcast sales? The answer is just £1.50 per item in addition to the usual sales commission.
We endeavour to provide the best possible service for online buyers.
Pre-sale condition reports can be requested by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We offer a complete in-house packaging service for successful online bidders. Every lot in the sale can be posted to you, and will normally be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery to reach you, if possible, within seven days.
For some of the heavier overseas purchases we have a successful arrangement with Mailboxes in Nottingham.
We keep our packaging charges to an absolute minimum. For example, 15 minutes packing will be charged to the purchaser at just £5 plus VAT to include labour, aterials and delivery to the post office. Postage is of course extra.
