Ingraham: I hear consistently—you know I talk to a lot of people, you talk to a lot of people—I think there's no doubt about that people are starting to coalesce behind you—conservatives, libertarians, foreign-policy hawks, Tea Party folks. And I think the thing they want to know is can nice-guy Mitt Romney—the genteel, nice guy, nice family guy—take it to Barack Obama?
Romney: Well I can tell you this—I've done pretty darn well in the primaries, and there has been some real battles, and President Obama is big target when it comes to his record.

Ingraham: So we can rest assured that the same fervor, the same zeal that we saw in the takedown of Newt Gingrich in Florida, with the SuperPACs? You were an effective campaigner down there—and it was tough! That same toughness would be brought to bear in this administration in everything they've done?
Romney: This is not playing checkers. This is a very serious enterprise we're involved in. The question is going to come down to what kind of America we're going to have... There are some who will think this is a game.

Ingraham: What would you do now to fix [the rampant scandals like GSA, Fast and Furious, and Secret Service misbehavior]?
Romney: I'd clean house. The right thing to do is to remove people who have violated the public trust and put their playtime and their personal interest ahead of the interests of the nation.

Ingraham: Governor, what did you mean by moving beyond the Fox true believers? I'm sure you're aware of the fact that lots of liberals watch Fox. More liberals watch Fox than CNN and MSNBC combined. What did you mean by that?
Romney: I want to make sure we—I realize that, of course, Fox has a lot of independent voters, a lot of Democrats watch. Our message—in a network that is fair and balanced, there are some networks that don't give us fair play, and we go to put our people there, our surrogates there.
