"Images of Seminole"
March 13, 2016, Pinellas Room, Heritage Village
James Anthony Schnur
Immediate Past President, Pinellas County Historical Society
Incorporated in 1970, Seminole may be the "youngest" incorporated municipality in Pinellas County, but the area has a rich history of settlement since the late nineteenth century. Agricultural enterprises and citrus groves predominated in the region prior to World War II. Suburban developments sprouted into the 1950s as rows of ranch homes supplanted orange trees. This program by Jim Schnur traces the history of the greater Seminole area from the late 1800s through the new millennium.
