The question in a Michigan family’s lawsuit is whether school officials discriminated against a girl with cerebral palsy in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 when they refused to allow her service dog to aid her in school. The Supreme Court will decide whether the family must exhaust an administrative process under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act before it may go to court under the other federal disabilities laws.
