This is EXEC_MISERICORDE/., the first Hymmnos song I ever did, now in HQ. Backing this up so that the mobile-recorded version may be ditched once and for all. Piano recording was done in John Lill Music Centre, College Lane, University of Hertfordshire. Voice was done.... well, with my usual trusty mic and Audacity. The whole thing was recorded and assembled in 2010.

Because I didn't know how to handle wave fluctuations at the time, you'd hear saturation. A LOT OF IT. And I'm sorry ;_;

I came up for the English translation to this song at a very low point in my life — I had lost my mother, my father was blinded by grief, the family I was in was no longer the family I once knew, there was hostility towards other members of the family, there was hostility towards Catholics in the family (including myself). Outside the scope of the family, I had to deal with Year 1 of my law degree, which was something I wasn't too keen on handling. I wanted to sing. I was just overflowing with emotion, to put it bluntly. What actually triggered the writing of the lyrics was that due to circumstances which I could not fight against, I missed mass for three weeks straight, and I tell you, how I longed to get back! It came to the point that I would wait for everyone to go away, and then, I would type into my spiritual journal on OneNote. Sometimes, I would cry. It was that feeling that something very dear to me was at stake. And even around that time, I took the time to see what was going on around me, how many people were persecuted, thrown in prison for advocating free speech and the freedom of conscience and religion, or even killed for some reason or other. I needed to hope, I needed to pray, and I definitely needed spiritual direction.

But when I had the resolve to write something in Hymmnos, I wanted whatever I wrote in English to be my song.

Today, I've weaned myself off Hymmnos, but I still remember the prayer that I wrote in that journal of mine — it survives today as EXEC_MISERICORDE/.
