This is the seminal sports event in my lifetime. I've been fortunate enough to live through a lot of great personal sports moments. Texas winning a national championship; being at the Astrodome to see Nolan Ryan throw a no-hitter; being lucky enough to have seen the great Cowboy teams of the 70s and 90s; watching the Astros play in some of the most amazing playoff series in baseball history. But nothing tops this one. I was 15 years old when this game was played and I still cry when I watch the U.S. team rush the ice at the end of the game while the Russians stand at center ice gawking.
If you weren't alive or old enough at the time to see what was going on, it is just a great hockey game. But if you lived through that time (or know your history) then you know why it was so much more than just a hockey game. I'm not sure that there will ever be another moment in sports as great as this one. Not for me, anyway.
It's not the entire game and it's a replay taped from ESPN and not the "real game", but hopefully you'll enjoy it.
