Sarah Kim, a junior at Salisbury High School, gives a thought provoking talk on why we need to embrace our emotions in order to sustain innovation for this generation. Sarah discusses education's current battles with attempting to generate future thinkers while going through the difficult process of standardizing education. If we all embrace emotion as a way to learn, to teach, then perhaps we can create the future thinkers needed to continue our society's innovative path. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
