We return to our playthrough of Zelda: Wind Waker equipped with our new Oculus Rift DK2 hardware and DolphinVR software, which you can get from:
https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums...
With this, I no longer need Tridef3D or Xpadder! Wind Waker is listed as the most compatible title, and it gives one of the most compelling Nintendo VR experiences that has ever existed, complete with positional tracking, low persistence, good field of view, a strong sense of stereoscopy, and the dramatic vivid colors of an OLED display.
Getting DolphinVR running without frame drops while recording was fairly challenging. I set all NVIDIA Control Panel settings at highest performance (http://i.imgur.com/DSZeM1S.png), all Dolphin enhancements disabled with 2x resolution (http://i.imgur.com/W4n1DbR.png http://i.imgur.com/wsXZxFt.png http://i.imgur.com/EznwQPY.png), and "second screen only" mode (http://i.imgur.com/Y4MCRvz.png). Be sure to disable anything using CPU. Also I have a good rig (780 Ti, i7 4770K overclocked to 4.0 GHz), see my about page (http://youtube.com/user/eVRydayVR/about) for full system details.
Also note that Wind Waker only runs at 30 FPS, as far as I know, and I confirmed with DXTORY I was running at 30 FPS. I still have low persistence at 75 Hz, but there is frame duplication. I've built up some resistance to low frame rates over several series, but others may find them very unpleasant.
In this episode we meet the Rito people and learn about their trouble with Valoo, as well as play a minigame. If you want to see some combat, check back next episode!
