Wild is the Wind
(By Dmitri Tiomkin/Ned Washington, 1957)

Arranged by Joanna Strand and John Bailey

Filmed by Asaf Blasberg

Dmitri Tiomkin’s 1957 song Wild is the Wind was first recorded by Johnny Mathis for a film of the same name. Subsequent interpretations include those of Nina Simone, David Bowie, Shirley Horn, Nancy Wilson and Barbra Streisand. Words are by twelve- time Oscar-nominated lyricist, Ned Washington, who also wrote When you wish upon a Star, Ghost of a Chance and The Nearness of You.

Love me, love me, say you do
Let me fly away with you
For my love is like the wind
And wild is the wind
Wild is the wind

Give me more
Than one caress
Satisfy this hungriness
Let the wind blow through your heart
For wild is the wind

You touch me-
I hear the sound of mandolins
You kiss me
With your kiss my life begins
You're spring to me
All things to me

You’re life itself

Like a leaf clings to the tree
Oh my darling,
Cling to me
For we're like creatures
Of the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
