Carla Taylor of CleanTV news brings us this story of a man determined to get out of debt:

Millions of young Americans are up to their eyeballs in debt, including 29-year-old Joe Mihalic of Austin, TX. Joe decided he set the goal to pay off $90,000 in debt from Harvard Business School in 7 months and he did it, and he saved $40,000 in interest on his student loan by paying it off early.

How? Having a low 6-figure income alone wasn't coming close to cutting it while maintaining his lifestyle so he simply cut everything: No more restaurants, not even McDonald's, and selling everything in his house that wasn't absolutely necessary.

If he had a gal who wanted to see a movie for their date, he'd take her hiking instead or if he really wanted to splurge he'd do a bagel and coffee date. And when it came to paying for public transportation he hoofed it instead, eating protein bars along the way.

And as for his house and mortgage payments, he got two roomies as renters.

Mr. Mihalic is now an Internet financial guru sharing such tips with his loyal readers. He explains that getting out of debt quickly is an emotional decision.
