Princess Olivia's Journey So Far
Olivia Lulu Calbazana born August 1, 2005

Olivia started getting sick at the end of October 2008
On Black Friday 2008, Olivia was taken to AI duPont Children's Hospital
At midnight we were told that she had a brain tumor

The next day she surgery to place a temporary shunt in her brain to relieve the
fluid pressure

On December 1, 2008, Olivia had brain surgery to remove the tumor

The biopsy confirmed that she had Medulloblastoma...a fast growing highly malignant
brain tumor with a 5 year survival rate of 60%-80% based on treatment option.

After surgery Olivia was mute and incapable of sitting up on her own.

When she starting talked talking again, her voice had changed...it more high

She learned to walk again two weeks after surgery.

Her left eye needed to be patched to rebuild strength in ther right eye which
was damaged by the pre-surgery fluid pressure...this was to prevent the brain
from shutting down the right eye.

Olivia started her first round of chemotherapy on December 23, 2008

We traveled to Boston for Proton Radiation at MassGeneral Hospital. She received
30 rounds of radiation over two months.

Gabriella Elizabeth Calbazana was born April 9, 2009

Olivia has completed 6 rounds of chemotherapy to date. She had another 4 rounds
for this treatment plan. She visits a child psycologist weekly for post tramatric
stress. Her hearing and kidney function are closely monitored due to the
chemotherapy drugs she receives. Every few months she gets a head and spine MRI to look for any signs of a reaccurance.
