United Nations – Malakeh Jazmati was forced to flee to Berlin Germany in October 2015. In Syria she worked for a telecoms company, and she also hosted a cooking show which ran on Syrian television. After arriving in Berlin she wrote her own cookbook which is being translated and published in German. Living in exile with her Syrian husband, she gave birth to her first child in Germany. She says she believes in focusing on what human beings have in common, rather than their differences. She is one of more than one million people who applied to asylum in Germany in 2015 and 2016.
