Mayor Reads: In the tree house

Mayor Reads August episode is related to summer and opportunities for us to connect with each other and share adventures.

These videos are one of the ways that Edmonton’s Mayor Don Iveson connects to community. As a father of 2 young children and a champion for literacy as well as our public library - he understands the value of sharing books. He has countless invitations to read to school groups but can't possibly accept them all. In an effort to “share our Mayor” and connect to children (and adults) through books we have created a project called Mayor Reads. Monthly episodes are based on books which may be related to seasonal themes or city issues that would appeal to our intended audience of elementary students and families.

In the Tree House was selected for the powerful message of relationships, the meaning of community and the connections that can be made when daily distractions are gone.
