Since 1998, the University of Virginia Center for Politics has hosted the annual Virginia Political History Project. This year's conference examined Virginia's influence on U.S. presidential elections past and present.

The conference opened with special presentations from each of Virginia's eight U.S. presidents. From Washington to Wilson, character interpreters provided perspectives and commentary on their respective political campaigns and tenure in the nation's highest office.

Professor Larry J. Sabato moderated a panel discussion about the 2012 presidential election, and CBS News' Wyatt Andrews concluded the conference with Virginians who had served in various administrations.
