This five alarm fire was started by an explosion in a warehouse used by GT Products and is located in the 500 block of Industrial Boulevard in Grapevine, Texas. During the initial stages of the fire, large amounts of black smoke moved over Highway 114, located just next to the warehouse. This caused major gridlock in the area. This fire eventually reached five alarms, with mutual aid coming from over a dozen agencies, including D/FW Airport who sent a crash truck, among other units. According to the PIO, the fire was contained to the building and no harmful or hazardous chemicals were released. Due to the large response by the fire department, the eastbound access road of Highway 114 was closed. This combined with the onlookers from Highway 114 created a massive gridlock of the entire area.
Several firefighters were treated for heat-related illnesses on scene. As of 5:30 PM, the fire was contained and units were being released.
