SYDNEY APRIL 10: STOP THE FORCED CLOSURE OF ABORIGINAL COMMUNITIES
March endorsed by: Redfern Aboriginal Tent Embassy, Indigenous Social Justice Association, Grandmothers Against Removals, Stop the Intervention Collective Sydney
It’s time to hit the streets in Sydney to protest against disgraceful moves to shut down Aboriginal communities - led by Prime Minister for Indigenous Despair Tony Abbott.
We will be marching in solidarity with brothers and sisters in WA staring down the imminent threat of withdrawal of essential services to once again force Aboriginal people off their lands. These moves to relocate Aboriginal people and break up communities are taking place Australia wide - from the APY lands in SA, the homelands of the NT, to the Block in the heart of Sydney. Across the continent the vicious agenda of assimilation is the same and the results will be the same - more homelessness, incarceration, children taken from families, untimely death.
We will be marching from Belmore Park to the Redfern Aboriginal Tent Embassy to support the stand against corporate development of the Block by developer Deicorp who has boasted on their website that “all the Aboriginal people have already moved out of Redfern”.
Thousands have marched across the country in an inspiring wave of protest - SYDNEY STAND UP!
