The Women's Leadership Colloquium seeks to inspire leaders to become more consciously aware of their potential in taking leadership roles in educational settings.
The concept for the Second Annual President's Women's Colloquium was inspired by the recent CUNY Women's Leadership Conference held at Hunter College entitled Breaking Boundaries in Science and Health: New Careers and Challenges. The Hunter College Conference was a initiative, guided and led by CUNY's women college presidents, seeking to advance fresh ideas about policy and practice.
In an effort to continue the discussion of breaking boundaries, President Keizs felt that this was an opportune time to showcase and highlight the wonderful work being performed by our local talent within academic programs at York College in Science, Math and Health Sciences.
With the aforementioned as our guiding principle, Spring into Science: Fields of Opportunity was chosen as this year's colloquium theme. The discourse of the colloquium will explore how women leaders in Science, Math and Health Science define success and challenges through academia and research while balancing work and life perspectives. Aspects of diversity, leadership, service, spirituality and wellness as it relates to the journey of a life in Science, Math and Health Science will be discussed to help participants gain knowledge in self-discovery, define potential action plans for the future and inspire service within communities. Panelists will include a diverse selection of York College students and faculty.
