Title of talk: Advocating for Truth: Why a Former Prosecutor No Longer Supports the Death Penalty
About this talk: When Sam Millsap was the Bexar County District Attorney, he prosecuted Ruben Cantu for capital murder. Cantu was executed in 1992. In December 2005, as a result of investigative reporting by the Houston Chronicle, serious questions were raised concerning Cantu's guilt. In the last five years, Millsap has acknowledged his mistake and become a vocal advocate for the end to the death penalty and a friend to many former death row inmates who have since been exonerated.
