There's a ship lies rigged and ready in the harbor
Tomorrow for old England she sails
Far away from your land of endless sunshine
To my land full of rainy skies and gales
And I shall be aboard that ship tomorrow
Though my heart is full of tears at this farewell

For you are beautiful, I have loved you dearly
More dearly than the spoken word can tell
For you are beautiful, I have loved you dearly
More dearly than the spoken word can tell

I've heard there's a wicked war a-blazing
And the taste of war I know so very well
Even now I see the foreign flag a-raising
Their guns on fire as we sail into hell
I have no fear of death, it brings no sorrow
But how bitter will be this last farewell

For you are beautiful, I have loved you dearly
More dearly than the spoken word can tell
For you are beautiful, I have loved you dearly
More dearly than the spoken word can tell

Though death and darkness gather all about me
My ship be torn apart upon the seas
I shall smell again the fragrance of these islands
And the heaving waves that brought me once to thee
And should I return home safe again to England
I shall watch the English mist roll through the dell

For you are beautiful, I have loved you dearly
More dearly than the spoken word can tell
For you are beautiful, I have loved you dearly
More dearly than the spoken word can tell

My grandma didn't dance; in fact, I never really saw her listening to music either. But this song, my father told me, is the only song she ever danced to. He told me that she was smiling and dancing along in the kitchen to this very song. I'm only 14, but I had to say goodbye to her just over a month ago. Thank you for uploading this video and grandma, I miss you. ❤️

So sorry for your loss. This is a beautiful tribute to your grandma. I also lost my grandma at age 14.

I love the video to this!! It is one of my favorite songs of all time and I do remember playing it on my French Horn a long time ago (it was actually the first piece I played by ear). This makes me want to play this piece again. Thanks. :)

One of the greatest songs of the 70's. One of the greatest singers of all time. Thank you, Roger, for the fabulous memories of 1975.

And surely this should have been the main theme for either Hornblower or Aubrey
