This is the speech of President Barack Obama made to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on September 25, 2012. This speech is of historic significance in that it came shortly after the terrorist attacks against the United States consulate, in Benghazi, Libya just two weeks earlier, on September 11, 2012. President Obama started out this speech with a tribute to the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, who was killed in that attack. In some respects this speech also was a campaign speech, coming in the midst of the presidential election season. For detractors, this speech was controversial in that they argue it represented a dangerous appeasement policy by Obama in that he attributed the attacks not to terrorism but to a reaction against a tasteless anti-Islam video circulated on the Internet. History of course will voice an opinion. What did you think of the speech?
