Glee Review: 4x01 "The New Rachel" Recap & Season Premiere Episode Highlights + Kate Hudson & NYADA
SideReel's resident Gleek Alex shares highlights from Glee Season 4, Episode 01, titled "The New Rachel." Get episode highlights, then tell us what you thought of the episode!
GLEE is BACK, and with the real Rachel Berry in New York, WHO IS THE NEW RACHEL of McKinley High? I'm Alex and if you haven't seen last night's season 4 premiere, this is your official spoiler alert.
So Rachel Berry has begun her theater training at NYADA, and dance coach Cassandra July played by guest star Kate Hudson is providing a rude awakening for our favorite McKinley High diva aka Little Miss David Schwimmer!!! How did I not notice the resemblance before??
Back at McKinley, Sue Sylvester has a baby, and Quinn Fabray has been replaced by a Quinn Fabray clone (who is a total miserable BIATCH by the way). And speaking of changes, is it just me or does Kurt look like he's aged like 5 years over the summer? Either way, he still has the most awesome dad on TV ever, so it's refreshing to see that hasn't changed.
The veteran New Directions had enough fun with that thrilling Call Me Maybe routine, so let's skip right ahead to the new people. New girl Marley Rose may not have her closet stocked with the full Urban Outfitters catalog like Rachel Berry, but she does have some killer chops! In my opinion, she is much more likable as a NEW New Directoner than new token 'bad boy' Jake Puckerman. He's cute and has a nice voice, but homeboy needs to chill out and stop throwing stuff every time he doesn't get his way on stage. That's gonna get old real fast.
Back again to NYADA, HELLO Brody Weston. Watch out Finn, New York has plenty of eligible, straight, talented bachelors -- some of them showering in the same bathroom as your girlfriend. You better step up your episode appearances if you want to keep your lady on lock. Just saying... Seriously though! No FINN in this episode? WHAT A TEASE.
So far I'm not seeing anything too "new" about the real Rachel besides ombre highlights and a new love interest. And while Blaine's awesome, I'm not convinced that he's the new "Rachel" of McKinley High. And will Kurt's move to New York cause the end of their relationship? So many things left unanswered, so let me know what you thought of the season 4 premiere, and check back with me next week after Britney 2.0.
