Though I was alive in the early 90s when Nirvana was exceptionally popular, I was a small child raised on Peter, Paul and Mary and was thus, completely unaware of the grunge rock phenomenon until I was a teenager. It was at that time I discovered radio stations featuring rock music, which I would then blast out over the speakers in my old beat-up black Jeep Cherokee (which didn't have working air conditioning most of the time). I thought I was /so/ cool. I was delighted when I figured out that Heart-Shaped Box worked pretty well on harp. Frankly, I've always identified with rock and popular music far more than I have ever identified with "classical" instrumental pieces. They never reached me the same way.
