DESC: On July 12, the Sierra Club launched a series of high-saturation television, radio and online ads, highlighting Rep. Frank Guinta's (NH) failure to act on the renewal of the production tax credit (PTC) for wind energy and the preservation of tens of thousands of American jobs. The cable television and radio ads will run in Eastern New Hampshire through July 25. The ads are a part of the Sierra Club's Wind Works campaign, an effort working to renew the wind energy Production Tax Credit. The wind industry currently supports more than 75,000 jobs across the country, but if the PTC is not renewed by the end of the year, as many as half of these jobs could be lost. Already, layoffs have been announced in manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania and new wind installations have been delayed due to uncertainty around the PTC's fate. -

Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to address climate disruption by moving away from the dirty fossil fuels and toward a clean energy economy.
