New York Cosmos vs New York Red Bulls for the battle of New York in the US Open Cup. The Cosmos dominated the entire game winning 3-0.

Mads Stokkelien found the net early and Alessandro Noselli added an insurance marker in the second half to lift the New York Cosmos to a 3-0 win over the New York Red Bulls in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup Saturday night at a festive Shuart Stadium.

The Norwegian striker took a long ball from Carlos Mendes and fired a fearsome first-time volley off the bounce into the upper right corner of the net in the eighth minute of the match.

Stokkelien added another in the 73rd minute, latching onto a Danny Szetela cross and placing it inside the far post. It came one minute after Meara was forced to make a diving save on a shot by Guenzatti at the top of the box.

Noselli put the match away in the 78th minute, putting a low shot past Meara for his second goal in as many games.

The Red Bulls were reduced to 10 men in the 87th minute when defender Chris Duvall was sent off with a straight red card for a two-footed tackle on Sebastian Guenzatti at midfield.

In the first meeting between the New York sides, the Cosmos dominated possession and had a 21-3 edge in shots, including 9-0 in the second half. The Cosmos advance to the fifth round of the competition and will face either the Harrisburg City Islanders or the Philadelphia Union on June 24 or 25.
