A video produced in conjunction with the publication of Assistant Professor of Bioengineering Valentine Vullev's article, "From Biomimesis to Bioinspiration: What's the Benefit for Solar Energy Conversion Applications?" in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters. The video describes the role of biomimesis and bioinspiration in meeting the demands for energy and sustainability. It points out that solar radiation reaching the earth's surface delivers energy at a rate considerably greater than the current and projected rates of global energy consumption and that photosynthesis evolved to harvest solar energy and utilize it. Mimicking photosynthesis provides a means to further solar energy conversion science and to understand biological light harvesting. Produced by BCOE students Ali Hadian, Srigokul Upadhyayula and Andrew Ong.
