June 26, 2010 One of the other builder's, Ed Perello, was sharing his own paint formula for R2-D2. His has a bit more of a purple hue to it, which seems to mimic the R2-D2 blue very, very closely. I decided to try it out and here's how it turned out...the formula is....(I started with Dupli-Color etching primer.....Dupli-Coloretching primer, Dupli-Color adhesion promoter, RUST-OLEUM METALLIC "SILVER METALLIC No. 7271, 2 coats of TAMIYA COLOR FOR POLYCARBONATE No. PS-45 Translucent Purple, one coat Dupli-color METALCAST BLUE Anodized No.MC-201, one coat Dupli-color METALCAST PURPLE Anodized No.MC-204 and RUST-OLEUM Clear Enamel No.7701....I used 3 coats. I waited 15-30 minutes between coats.
