Animation for 'Garden Greats' exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre of Visual Arts, Norwich.

This animation tells the story behind the famous Willow Pattern design.

Knoon-se the daughter of a powerful Mandarin of the Chinese Empire falls in love with Chang, a secretary to her father.

When the Mandarin discovers their affair he is outraged and sets about to end the relationship. The couple manage to escape and settle on a distant island, no longer harassed by Knoon-se's father.

Over the years Chang became famous for his writings. This was to prove his undoing. The Mandarin heard about him and in the dead of night set out to with the intention to kill him. He set alight the pagoda where they lived as Knoon-se and Chang slept inside. Tragically, the lovers perished in the flames and the gods, touched by their love, immortalised them as two doves, eternally flying together in the sky.
