Unsteady CFD simulation of a typical tube kite airfoil at an angle of attack of 26 degrees. The movie shows pressure coefficient contours. The simulation shows that the flow separates at the point where the tube goes over into the canopy. Here, the second-order gradient shows a peak. Behind the airfoil a Von Karmann vortex street develops.
