Speakers: Susan Pultman, SW, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA and Dana Vass, SW, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA

This presentation will familiarize you with various organizations and resources available to make your family's journey through cancer treatment a little less stressful. Topics covered will include financial assistance, transportation, emotional support, and more.

About the speakers:
Susan is the Patient Resource Navigator at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Division of Oncology. She works with the psychosocial team to provide appropriate resources to outpatient families on both an individual and group basis. She works especially close with the AYA and Survivorship populations, and has a special interest in sexuality education and counseling. Susan is a licensed social worker, received her MSW and M.Ed in Human Sexuality Education from Widener University, and her BA in Women and Gender Studies and Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis.

Dana Vass, MSW, LSW is a pediatric oncology social worker at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She has been employed there for seven years. Dana attended the University of Connecticut and graduated in 2003 with a BS in Family Studies and a minor in Sociology. She continued on to graduate school at The University of Pennsylvania where she received her Master's Degree in Social Work in 2005. Dana specializes in working with patients with relapsed and refractory neuroblastoma working on a developmental therapeutics team that specializes in patients with this diagnosis. Dana provides emotional support as well as helps each family navigate the available resources to get the care they need for their child. She is a member of The Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Work and also participates as a board member of Ella's Retreat.

The Childhood Cancer Symposium is an educational resource, providing families with the opportunity to learn about issues and topics of treatment and beyond, while meeting other families in a group setting. It is a free event and open to parents, patients and their siblings.
