Mainstreaming Kashmiri Youth (Duration : 7.34 Minutes") : In this video, Prof J A K Tareen speaks on the strategies to mainstream the Kashmiri Youth into the rest of India. He says that 98% of the Kashmiris do not know the beauty of this country. He suggests a number of strategies to reduce this widening gap. One of them is making "Bharath Dharshan" mandatory in the school curriculum of every child. Professor Tareen says that such an effort would go a long way in integrating the minds of Indians from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. He also says that the Indian government and Railways should make sincere efforts to promote "Bharath Dharshan". He was invited to be the Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University (2001-July 2004) by the then Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and assigned the task of restoring the Academics and Administration which had suffered during 20 years of its Militancy. Within the first 6 months, he could restore the Academic Calendar and other activities and streamline the University administration and at the end of three years, he got the University 'A' Grade from NAAC. He started 11 new Departments, two P.G. Centres and modernized library and laboratories. He was responsible to reopen the University to the rest of India after 20 years. For one year, he was holding charge of two universities in Kashmir, the other one being the Sher-e-Kashmir Agriculture University. He published his memoirs of Kashmir "Fire Under the Snowflakes".
