Master turner & chess set historian Alan Dewey (CHESSSPY) discusses the familiar Staunton-style chess set, from fine wood Jaques sets (the actual Staunton sets) to ordinary plastic Congress ones.

He also provides an introductory look at other common European chess set styles enacted in wood: St George, Edinburgh Upright and RĂ©gence.

Finally, assessing the damage to a Jaques Staunton that just came into the workshop for repairs & restoration.
