What do you do when you run out of potatoes or fancy something a little different from the bog standard spud? Well, let me show you in this Hax.
From your pantry, I'll introduce you to delicious, simple and divine alternatives for chips, roasties and mash.
* WHAT YOU NEED *
CHIPS : Kumara : Knife Or Apple Slicer (See The Perfect Chips Hax), oven tray
ROASTED : Swede : Peeler, Knife, Chopping Board
MASH : Cannellini Bean : Saucepan, spoon, hand blender, will power (so you don't eat it all in the pan!)
** PROCESS **
CHIPS : 1 - 2 Kumara peeled & sliced. 50g Hax garlic, herb & chilli butter, melted.
PROCESS : Preheat oven to 180 + spread kumara over lightly greased oven tray in one layer + Drizzle over the melted butter + season with salt and pepper + pop in the oven for 15 min, turn over half way through then + back in the oven for a further 15 min or roast until golden and crispy.
ROASTED : 2 tbsp Hax Garlic, Herb & Chilli Oil, parmesan cheese, fresh herbs
PROCESS : Preheat oven to 180 + peel and dice swede + toss in oil & season + place on lightly greased oven tray + roast until crisp and golden + remove from oven + garnish with grated parmesan and chopped fresh herbs + taste + season + serve
MASH : 2 tbsp Hax Garlic, Herb & Chilli Oil + 1 small onion, finely diced + 1 tin cannellini beans (DRAINED), + 2 tbsp milk (or vegetable stock)
PROCESS : Pour oil in pan + add onion and gently cook until soft + add beans, toss through onion mixture + pour in milk (stock) + cook for 2 mins + remove from heat + blend to a mash + taste, season, serve
