NORFOLK (AP) -- The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk is ready to start its $24 million expansion and renovation.

The project includes a major expansion of the glass and contemporary art displays. It also will include an expanded Cafe and Wi-Fi access in every gallery, better handicapped access, traffic flow and parking, officials say.

The museum's main building will close Sunday and won't reopen for more than a year. However, the Chrysler's Glass Studio and its Historic Houses will be open throughout 2013.

The museum also will take its show on the road with exhibitions, art experts and other events at partner museums throughout Hampton Roads.

A grand reopening is set for April 2014.
