I made the recording you are listening to while working the late night shift at the radio station WQBK-1300 AM (Albany, NY) on the evening of June 3, 1989. While changing the frequency channels on the satellite dish, I picked up a news feed of an English-speaking announcer for Radio Beijing who courageously reported the massacre at Tiananmen Square. 12 years later, with the help of a former reporter for Radio Beijing, I found out the names of the announcer and the copy writer and what happened to them (watch video end slide for details).
The former Radio Beijing reporter also guided me to the website (see end slide for url, though it's no longer active) where these images were found, some iconic, some rarely seen.
UPDATE March 2014: I was recently informed that the announcer Yuan Neng is living in Los Angeles. If anyone living in LA has any connections, finding Yuan Neng for the 25th Anniversary would be a great highlight.
