Thanks to the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation in Munich for its kind permission to use this video of the talk Benardete presented at the Foundation, July 1, 1999. In his Introduction (originally in German), Heinrich Meier, Director of the Foundation, concluded: "Let us say it openly: Benardete is as demanding an interpreter of Plato as conceivable. But whoever engages him seriously will be richly rewarded. He will be led to think for himself and in the best case moved to wonder. To that wonder which is the beginning of philosophy.”
