DARPA Suboff submarine fitted with INSEAN E1619 propeller surfacing in waves at Fr=0.25. The submarine is free to surge, heave, pitch and roll. The submarine surfaces by reducing its weight to 95% of the buoyancy and operating the stern planes with elevation target at the surface. The propulsor has an autopilot acting on the RPM set to maintain speed at a dimensionless value of U=-0.4. Isosurfaces of Q=500 are shown colored with axial velocity. The animations are in real time for a 65m long boat with SS4 head waves. The computation was performed with the code CFDShip-Iowa V4.5.
