Marin Poets Live! (http://www.marinlibrary.org/events-an...) is a public access television monthly show presented by Marin County Free Library (http://www.marinlibrary.org/) and features host Neshama Franklin, who works at the Fairfax Branch Library. The show introduces local Marin poets and delves into their reasons for writing and the influence that living in Marin County has had on their poetry.

In each interview, Neshama spends time eliciting background from each poet as well as offering her insights into the poems that each guest reads aloud.

This interview with Claire Blotter aired Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 7:30pm.

Claire Blotter Biography

Claire Blotter is a Sausalito writer who performs poetry with movement, body percussion and audience interaction. Her work has appeared in Barnwood, Gargoyle, California Quarterly, Canary, Synchronized Chaos, the We'Moon Datebooks and Kindergarde: Avant-Garde Poetry for Children, among other journals & anthologies.

She is the recipient of two Marin Arts Council Artists Grants in Poetry and grants from the Marin Community Foundation and the Nathan Cummings Foundation which supported her poetry performances, films and original musical theater collaborations.

A two time winner of San Francisco Poetry Slam titles, she competed in National Poetry Slam Finals in Boston and Chicago. Her award winning video documentary, Wake Up Call: Saving the Songbirds, has been screened in 11 film festivals from Mill Valley to Chicago, and her poetry-films are included in the Chicago Art Institute's archives.

She has taught performance poetry at universities throughout the Bay Area and now teaches in the Independent Study, California Poets in the Schools and Poetry Out Loud Programs in Marin County, California.
