San Antonio's newly appointed Mayor Ivy Taylor is stepping onto a new stage. One previously held by Julian Castro, who is now serving as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under the Obama administration.

Taylor however, is not intimidated by the expectations left behind by her predecessor, "I don’t feel like I've got big shoes to fill. I wear a whole different kind of shoes… orange ones with heels."

Mayor Ivy Taylor is filling in for the remainder of Castro's term and was voted in by the city council.

Now, as she heads the seventh largest city in the country, she says she recognizes the importance of having women in leadership positions, "I hope that more women will get engaged. I think women bring a different style of leadership that can be very productive and so I hope I’ll be inspiring other women."

Taylor says she is unsure about her political future, choosing to focus more on her current job as mayor.

"I really just want to do a great job during this key transitional phase for San Antonio. And then you know, I’m well prepared. I’m sure there’ll be some options for me in the future." Visit us at: http://www.fusion.net
