Archipald Jenkins Serino, originally named "Archibald" by Courtney Allen, then changed to "Archipald" for he is not bald, was a very lovable hamster. He did not just bounce around his cage all day, but he bounced at night. Because he was nocturnal. He dreamed about sailing and taught himself how to calculate his location by the positions of the stars. He would go up to anybody and everybody, and start telling stories about himself. He often asked religious folks about their lives and showed them his backyard goldfish pond he had carved in granite. He also learned the phrase "Do you like Chinese food?" in 19 languages to open conversations with foreigners. After they answered, he walked away.
Archie, 17, and his mother Nora, 15, lived in Brawley, California for 46 years. Archie will always be remembered as the little hamster that could. Rest in peace Archipald Jenkins Serino.
